Denise Brodey

Denise Brodey was named Editor in Chief of Fitness magazine in July 2006. Fitness, published by Meredith Corporation, has a circulation of 1.5 million and an audience of 6.6 million readers.
Brodey came to Fitness from More magazine, where she served as Special Projects Editor. Prior to joining Meredith, Brodey was Executive Editor of Shape. Before that, she held the position of Deputy Editor at Glamour since 2001.
Brodey has held leading editorial positions at many of the nation’s top women’s magazines. Her experience includes serving as the Fitness and Lifestyle Director of Self magazine and Executive Editor of American Health. She has also held senior level editorial positions at Child and Fitness.
Brodey’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Prevention and O: The Oprah Magazine, among other titles. Her book, “Elephant in the Playroom,” was published in March 2007 by Penguin.
A graduate of Barnard College, Brodey resides with her family in Brooklyn.
